The Thuringian State Authority for Metrology and Verification (LMET) is listed as the notified body no.0118 with the European Commission.
Notified bodies are neutral, independent and competent offices, which are involved in most of the conformity assessment procedures according to EC directives covering the free movement of goods (harmonisation directives according to Art. 95 of the EC Agreement) and they assume responsibility for carrying out the conformity assessment procedures. The main task for a notified body is to provide the services necessary for the conformity assessment process under the conditions named in the directives. This involves providing services in sectors, which are of interest to the general public.
As a notified body, the LMET certifies products and quality management systems in line with the harmonised directives
- 90/384/EEC relating to non-automatic weighing instruments (PDF-Download)
- 93/42/EWG concerning medical devices (PDF-Download)
- 2004/22/EG on measuring instruments (PDF-Download)
Once the conformity assessment procedure has been successfully concluded, the manufacturer is entitled to mark its products with the CE sign and bring them on to the single European market.
The certification body of the LMET certifies quality management systems according to DIN EN ISO 13 485.
